Introducing…the MALA (Mid-America Library Alliance) ILL (Interlibrary Loan) SIG (Special Interest Group). Want to know more? Find out here!
We’re here because we believe there is a need in the interlibrary loan community to discuss ideas, learn more, and interact with colleagues. MALA, a strong regional partner in supporting local libraries, helped to launch this group.
Some people deal with libraries all across the country every day, yet still feel isolated in their own library. For others, interlibrary loan is only one part of their daily responsibilities, and they may be unsure of how to deal with unusual requests or how to keep up with the rapid technological changes. We want to strengthen the ILL community in Kansas City and the surrounding area with training and professional development opportunities.
What do we need from you? Ideas. Questions. Tips. Anything you would like to share with your local ILL colleagues. Comment on this post to share your ideas with us!
- Would you like to learn (more about) something?
- Would you like to work with others to troubleshoot a problem you’re having?
- Would you like to meet other ILL staff and librarians over coffee who understand your frustrations?
- Would you like to gain professional development experience and training but you don’t have the time or funding to attend a big conference far away?
Later, we’ll need your participation. There are many ways to participate: attending events, training sessions, and webinars. We’re even planning a local ILL conference for 2016.
You can also participate by serving on the SIG Committee, the group that organizes events and programming for the Special Interest Group. We’ll be calling for applications soon. Stay tuned for more details!
